Drawn Animation




Drawn Animation
Drawn animation is the process when you animate any object that has been drawn. 

Sometimes the movement is created using a flip book, which makes the drawings move in a sequence.

I personally really like working on drawn animation, as it allows me to create anything on the drawing I can produce anything creative, but I know I have to improve my drawing skills for the animation to be more detailed and accurate. 

What I think I should improve next time working on drawn animation is to make the drawing more accurate by spending more time on the whole drawing process.  

The good thing about drawing animation is that the finished projects look very artistic and have really good movie features as it is very  ''easy'' to produce animated movies with drawing animation process. 

The negatives about drawn animation are that it is extremely time consuming because there is a lot of detail to draw and therefore the process of drawn animation might come expensive as it takes a lot of time.

CWC Time Lapse Inspired by Koyaanisqatsi




This pixilation was created by separated groups in my class and the separate projects were later edited and joint together to create this final video.

It was all inspired by Koyaanisqatsi project that involved similar techniques.

I personally did enjoy this project making as we were working in big group and made decisions all together as a team which in my opinion reflected really good on the finished video. I didn't like the fact that we didn't have much time to spend on thinking of the pre-production process and therefore we didn't complete the tasks as excepted as we planned it.

Pixelated Animation



Pixilation Animation
This type of animation is a form of Stop Motion animation, which means that you animate live actors instead of objects and materials and create the effect of the actors being animated.

The principle of pixilated animation is that you move the actors or the objects very slowly, step by step in front of the camera, capturing one frame at the time.

Pixilated Animation is quite similar to the object animation except that it is seeable to see facial expressions and movements more then in object animation. These two processes are quite similar although I personally enjoyed Object Animation more as I prefer working with object as to work with live actors as it is more simple to return them on original place in case mistake happens etc.

I didn't like this animation process at all, as I felt that we had limited ideas as we were in my group allowed to film only within the space of college. This animation is also very time consuming.

Cut Out Animation




Cut Out Animation
Cut-Out animation is one of the oldest forms of animation and in pre computer days, probably the easiest to make. 
Cut-out animation is a technique for producing animations using flat characters, props and backgrounds, cut from materials such as paper, card, stiff fabric or even photographs. 

Nowadays a cut-out animation is produced using computers. I really enjoyed producing animation through cut out process  because it is one of the most typical processes and I personally really enjoyed the creative part of the cutting out.

My Object Animation



Object Animation is the process of animating non-drawn objects using real life objects and materials such as toys, clay, wood, blocks etc.

This type of animation is really close to film-making as it involves many aspects of producing a film such as lighting, camera movement, lens etc.

I quite enjoyed object animation although I found it quite difficult to gain the ideas of what objects to animate with and the story as with objects the animations feel more limited as for example cut-out animation where you have loads of different picture material to use.

Zoetrope

Zoetrope is a device that allows set of drawings or pictures to create an illusion of a movement. It works on the same principles as the phenakisticope. Phenakisticope is the precursor of the zoetrope.

       It was invented by British mathematician William Horner, in 1834. It become revolution in history, in terms of animation, as it was one of first devices that created first animation movements. It didn't become popular until the 1860s, when it was patented by makers in both England and America. 

The images in zoetrope become ''alive'' when you place a strip of drawings inside the zoetrope's drum, spin it and look through the slots and the images will appear in continuous movement. This illusion of motion depends on the persistence of vision. 

Persistence of vision is a theory, which explains that the human eye always retains images for a fraction of a second (0.04seconds). This means that everything we see is a subtle blend of what is happening now and what happened a fraction of a second ago.

The negatives about the zoetrope is that if a person looks at it from bad angle the persistance of a vision can't happen anymore.
